- <p> The royal mail can be a royal pain. Just ask Princess Anne.
- Two weeks ago, an unidentified man handed the Sun, a London
- tabloid, four envelopes addressed to the princess and taken from
- her briefcase. The letters were written by Timothy Laurence, 34,
- an aide to Anne's mother Elizabeth II. "Dashing Queen's equerry
- . . . is `besotted' with Princess Anne and believes she loves
- him too," the Sun reported, quoting friends of Laurence, who is
- seen above in black top hat. The tabloids spun tales of secret
- trysts and phone calls between Laurence and Anne, 38, who is
- often apart from her husband of 15 years, Mark Phillips. Oddly,
- the Sun has turned the letters over to Scotland Yard without
- publishing their contents.
